"Meditation for Racing Minds"
What will you get out of this class?
When you learn a sport or a musical instrument, you learn smaller skills before playing a game or performing in a recital. Why not do the same thing with your meditation practice? Reduce frustration by using tricks gleaned from decades of research with regular, healthy meditators from a variety of traditions. This class will help people of all experience levels, especially beginners. I'll make sure you get plenty of time to practice easy, short skills during the workshop and then incorporate those skills into longer guided meditations.
Meditation is a natural, biological process that you've already done countless times in your life. Think of times when you feel totally at home in yourself, really present to life. It might be gardening, hiking, or holding a baby. What are your natural meditative moments? These are automatic when you give yourself permission to rest with something you love. Learn how to tweak what is already a natural process and intentionally bring it into other moments in your everyday life. Reclaim the power of deep rest and see the positive effects it has on your life.
I was a high school science teacher with a master's degree in Biology and was a meditation doubter. Then life threw me some curveballs and on top of my crazy schedule, I wasn't sure how I'd cope with the grief I was facing. I found this type of meditation and fell in love with life again and learned how to better manage stressful situations. I found more time in my day and was more present to those around me. I had more energy and brought more of my best self to those around me. I saw such a change in my life that I left a 25 year career in the classroom to put my teaching skills to use in this way. Seeing the myriad of positive changes in the lives of my clients is amazing!
